The Tale:.

According to the religious text Devi Bhagwat Puran there was a Demon called Tripurasur that was really solid and had blissful electricity and power. As a result of these top qualities he came to be happy and started to problem deities and sages. No one was able to defeat this solid demon in war. On seeing his immoral actions Brahma, Vishnu and Other deities prayed to the Devadhidev Mahadeva Shiva (The best, lord of Lords Shiva) to damage bad Tripurasur. Lord Shiva closed his eyes and meditated for a long time. When he opened his lotus shaped eyes rips fell from them on the earth. Wherever his rips fell the Rudraksha tree Increased. The fruits that increase on this tree are called Rudraksha Beads. Lord Shiva then used his deadly divine weapon called Aghor and damaged Tripurasur.

According to one more religious text Shiva Mahapuran, Parvati the divine consort of Lord Shiva asked him the origin of Rudraksha. On hearing her inquiry Shiva pointed out that he did penance for a thousand years. Worn out of keeping his eyes closed for such a long time, Shiva opened them. A few teardrops fell to the ground and from these rips, the Rudraksha tree was born. The seeds of the tree were distributed on the earth.
